Footprints scholarship

This scholarship was created to provide a platform for students to share how they came to find their Taiwanese American identity and how it has influenced the person they are today. Each year, we ask students to answer a question in whichever way best expresses their thoughts - through art, video, music, or writing!

Footprints is a project created by ITASA’s Philanthropy Department to provide financial support to both high school and college-aged Taiwanese Americans. Through Footprints, we hope to engage students with their Taiwanese American culture and identity, as well as connect them to the growing Taiwanese American community at large. 

Footprint Scholarship Details:

  • Amount: $125-$250

  • Number of Awards: 1

Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Excellence: Minimum GPA of 2.5

  • Field of Study: Open to all Majors

  • Enrollment Status: Full-time Student

  • Year of Study: Undergraduates (excluding board members)

Personal Statement Prompt

Compose a personal statement that reflects on your journey in discovering your Taiwanese American identity and articulates how this cultural aspect has helped to shape the person you are today. Share your experiences, challenges, and moments of growth, emphasizing the significance of your Taiwanese American heritage in influencing your values, perspectives, and aspirations. Discuss how this scholarship opportunity aligns with your commitment to fostering cultural understanding and contributing to the betterment of your community. [750 words max]

pathways scholarship

The Pathways Scholarship was created to honor the leadership and commitment of Taiwanese American students, while celebrating their pioneering approaches that demonstrate outstanding dedication to improving and leading positive change within their communities.

Pathways Scholarship Details:

  • Amount: $125-$250

Reflective Essay Prompt

Compose a reflective essay detailing your active involvement and leadership within the Taiwanese American and APIDA (Asian Pacific Islander Desi American) communities. Describe your specific roles, initiatives, or projects aimed at advocating for these communities, emphasizing the positive impact and outcomes of your efforts. Share examples that showcase your commitment to positive change, leadership effectiveness, and the meaningful impact you've made in advocating for the Taiwanese American community and APIDA at large. [750 words max]

Selection Process

Once the deadline has closed, all submissions will be reviewed jointly as National Board, Financial Director and Board of Directors. Each aspect of the submission criteria will be evaluated equally and a joint decision will be made for each applicant. ITASA welcomes any and all applicants of any background to apply.
