Wanted: English-language editor/ administrative assistant for the Press Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office (TECRO) in the United States (the de facto Taiwan Embassy. Address: 4201 Wisconsin Ave, NW Washington, DC 20016 Status: Full Time beginning June 15, 2007 Salary: Beginning at $28,800 per annum, depending on education and experience Description: The successful candidate will perform a variety of tasks, including: writing and editing of official English-language correspondence, writing opinion pieces and essays for publication in various American media outlets, writing press releases for TECRO's website, helping strategize public relations campaigns, supporting Press Division staff, researching Taiwan-related issues such as cross-Strait relations, Taiwan's WHO and UN bids, and other issues as needed. Previous experience in Taiwan/ China/ East Asian affairs and Chinese language helpful but not required. Superior writing and copy-editing skills a must. This is a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about international affairs as they pertain to Taiwan and its unofficial relationship with the United States.
